From the Editor By Sabrina Henderson Insights Since I entered the GeoTechnologies in February, I've learned a lot from all of you, to say the least. So now, it's time for me to return the favor with a little insight into the publishing field... EOM has just released the Editorial Calendar for next year, highlighting the scheduled topics and focus of each month's publication. Once again, we have included an editorial focus, a special supplement topic, as well as a list of which conferences particular issues will be distributed at. We put all of our efforts into developing editorial materials to fit this Editorial Calendar. This informs readers, writers, and advertisers as to EOM's upcoming schedule and enables everyone to plan for and anticipate topics of special interest. This issue of EOM is particularly special because we were able to incorporate into several of the articles both our scheduled editorial focus, real estate, with the special supplement topic, high-resolution satellite imagery, showing the exciting inter-relationship between many of the GeoTechnologies. Particularly, on page 49, Tom Delaney highlights Space Imaging's IKONOS-2 mission, including how its high-res satellite data will be available to, and very possibly revolutionize, industries like real estate. Laura Lang illustrates VISTAinfo's ability to supply environmental real estate information via the Internet on page 11. And in a special Earth Science Enterprise update on page 18, W. Frederick Limp explains how the ESE program is changing the way we look at spatial data. In addition to these features, we have incorporated other articles covering real estate and high-res satellite imagery into this issue through our usual Technotes, Airborne, GPS Q&A, and Last Look departments. Also, the evolving relationship between photogrammetry and map production is covered by S.J. Fletcher on page 14. And now, we start all over again, beginning to pull together the focus for our November issue on telecommunications and off-the-shelf geographic spatial data. The never ending cycle continues with our goal to grow the industry by providing valuable information and answers for our readers. Our Editorial Calendar for the year 2000 is now available on page 45. Don't forget to contact one of our account managers to get your complete media kit and begin planning your editorial submissions, advertising, and subscriptions for next year! We look forward to working with you into the new millennium. Best regards, Sabrina Henderson Editor Back |
