Intermap Announces $870,751 US STAR-3i Mapping Projects
Intermap Technologies Inc. and its prime contractor EarthWatch Incorporated of Longmont, Colorado announced they have received contract extensions totaling $870,571 US for sophisticated digital elevation mapping in South America, bringing Intermap's current contract there to more than $1.9 million. The contracts are additions to work in several South America countries that was announced previously.
"We are very pleased this work continues our strong working relationship with EarthWatch," said Brian Bullock, Intermap President and CEO. "EarthWatch recognizes the unique capabilities of our STAR-3i Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) technology in meeting their mapping needs. In South America, the ability to collect large amounts of high accuracy data in a very efficient manner combined with STAR-3i's cloud penetrating capability makes it ideal for their needs".
The DEM products collected will have a data point every 10m and each point will have a vertical accuracy of 3 meters. All of the new Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and Ortho-rectified Radar Imagery (ORRI) data will be added to Intermap's GLOBAL Terrain store (www.globalterrain.com), where it will be available for sale off-the-shelf.
Mr. Bullock added that all the required permits are in place and with this additional work, STAR-3i will be dedicated to work in South America for the fourth quarter.

Tripod Data Systems Adds Road Layout to New Survey Pro CE 2.0
Tripod Data Systems announced the release of Survey Pro for Windows CE version 2.0. This version adds road layout and slope staking routines to the program. Road layout gives surveyors the ability to enter road definitions and then stake the road based on those definitions. Slope staking allows users to locate and stake catch points given a center line and a slope.
"With the graphical viewing tools that we have added, Survey Pro's road layout provides functionality that no other road staking tool can match," said TDS Product Manager Eric Hall. "We have also simplified the road definition rules and at the same time made the road tools more flexible. I think the results will please our customers."
Road Layout gives surveyors editors for entering horizontal and vertical alignments as well as templates that describe the road cross-section, widenings and super elevations. Because of the big screen and road viewing tools of the Ranger handheld computer running the Windows CE operating system, surveyors can easily visualize the road. The graphical viewers make road entry and editing easier to understand and act as a valuable error checking system. Once the road is defined, Survey Pro provides a complete set of road staking tools that use the road file for guidance. Staking the road is easier because the road file contains the complete definition of the road. Any station can be staked or slope staked. Offset values are automatically set by the templates.
The slope staking routines take an alignment definition and let the user slope stake at any station along the alignment. Unlike the road slope staking routine, the slope staking routine requires the user to enter an offset for the hinge point and to define the slope to use for the operation. This form of slope staking is extremely useful for simple operations where a complete road definition is not required.
Survey Pro CE version 2.0 also includes many other enhancements to GPS and Robotic functions. For current Survey Pro for Windows CE users, the new road layout and slope staking routines are a free upgrade. Survey Standard users can purchase an upgrade to Survey Pro to get the new routines as well as all the advanced tools that Survey Pro provides.

Kodak Launches Kodak Earth Imaging Products: A Business-Focused E-commerce Site for High Resolution Earth Imagery
Kodak's Commercial & Government Systems division (C&GS) announced the launch of a site for the on-line sale of high resolution color and black-and-white earth imagery. The new Kodak Earth Imaging Products (EIP) Web site can be found at http://www.kodak.com/go/earthimaging.
Currently, aerial imagery is available on-line from over 30 North American major metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) and Kodak plans to steadily increase this number to 95 by mid 2001 with the addition of imagery offerings from a number of suppliers from across the continent and around the world.
Industry analysts predict the earth imaging information market will exceed $1 billion over the next three years. Kodak EIP will meet the needs of this market by offering many different levels of precision image data from one-meter black-and-white to six-inch resolution color. Kodak will output aerial imagery on CD with viewer or high quality paper prints.
The aerial images available on-line of the North American MSAs are the result of an agreement that Kodak announced last year with Hauts-Monts International Inc., a leading remote sensing imagery provider headquartered in Quebec, Canada. This imagery is a historical first in scope, precision, and quality consistency throughout the set. With this agreement, Kodak has the exclusive rights for Internet sale of Hauts-Monts images marketed under the CitiPix brand name by Altaphoto, Inc., the Hauts-Monts U.S. division located in Columbia, Md. Earlier this month, C&GS announced an agreement with Compagnia Generale Ripreseaeree S.p.A (CGR) of Genoa, Italy to market high resolution aerial images of Italy through Kodak's new Web site.
"We are proud to launch Kodak Earth Imaging Products," said David Ledgerwood, vice president of C&GS. "This newest offering via kodak.com will not only revolutionize how high resolution earth imagery is bought and sold but expand its use. We also take the complexity and frustration out of the search for the best imagery so that image information solutions can be delivered quickly to enable more effective customer decision making."
The company stated that the new e-commerce site opens new opportunities for both buyers and sellers of high resolution earth imagery. For buyers (in numerous industries such as architecture, engineering, construction, telecommunications, utilities, transportation, insurance, travel, real estate and local/state/federal government), Kodak EIP represents an easy-to-use, time and cost-effective solution for the procurement of earth imagery as sophisticated as six-inch color resolution. Image search and procurement is all Web-based, creating a simple buying experience that is facilitated through the use of familiar credit card and purchase order fulfillment procedures. With easy to use and intuitive search capabilities, customers can shop on-line with confidence that they will receive the right product at the right price, while benefiting from a reduced cycle time made possible by e-commerce technology.
For earth imagery and data providers (such as aerial flyers and geospatial map companies), Kodak EIP represents a new revenue growth opportunity by creating a new sales channel which reaches more potential customers. Providers of imagery can also realize significant cost of sales savings through reduced individual marketing expenditures.
Kodak's Commercial & Government Systems unit provides innovative image information solutions for business and government intelligence needs. Examples include aerial imaging, digital imaging systems for commercial imaging satellites, and optical systems for land and space telescopes.
